Marni's event planning skills and organization stem from her background in theatre arts and theatre management. When she began planning events, she realized how similar producing an elaborate event was to producing a theatrical performance. She holds a BA in theatre arts, and went on to earn a dual-Masters degree from California State University, Long Beach—a Masters in fine art, theatre management, and a Masters in business administration with an emphasis on management. 

She began organizing events when she was 18 years old, and has since led or assisted in organizing a number of events, parties, fundraisers, auctions, competitions, and weddings. Most notably, she planned and directed TheatreFest, a theatre competition for over 1,000 Southern California high school students, in 2008. In 2010, as she was planning her own wedding, she realized how much she enjoyed planning, designing, and executing a wedding. In 2011, she co-founded an annual fundraising event, which raises funds for childhood cancer research. Also in 2011, she co-founded the wedding blog Yellow Press Weddings.

In addition to her organization and management skills, Marni is an art director, graphic designer, and dance choreographer. She can style and direct photo shoots; design websites, save-the-dates, invitations, and more; and choreograph couple or group dances. She has a passion for styling events, and creating an overall look and feel--from the paper goods, to the decorations, and more--with an acute attention to detail.

She is the proud wife to wedding and portrait photographer Michael Farmer of Michael Farmer Photography, and mamma to Mikey and Donovan and fur babies Krypto and Scout.

Jill Herrera has worked with So Smitten Events since 2014 assisting in the planning and coordination of the company's weddings and social events. She has successfully executed over 1,000 events in the fashion, beauty, and wedding industry throughout her career. She earned her Business and Marketing degree from University of Phoenix in 2008 while climbing the ranks in the Beauty Industry. 

In her free time she has held Committee Member positions for consecutive years with the American Cancer Society facilitating San Pedro Relay For Life's Luminaria Ceremony events for over 500 attendees. She also has several producer credits in independent film production with her husband Joey.

Jill resides in picturesque Rancho Palos Verdes, CA with her husband. She has two beautiful step kids Madelyn and Garrett who are in their early twenties. She loves spending time with her family, friends and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shaunté’s event planning skills began back in college, helping her best friend coordinate weddings on campus and at a local church. She built on those skills as a speech and debate coach, planning, organizing, and running speech and debate tournaments for hundreds of college students from schools all over the country. She continued her events journey as a catering and events manager in Nashville, TN where she coordinated events from weddings, to large fundraisers for thousands. She joined the So Smitten team when she returned to her hometown in Southern California. 

Shaunté holds a BA in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Speech and Theatre, and a Master of Fine Art in Acting. She is a Theatre and Communications professor and a Speech and Debate coach. Shaunté is a sister of a Filipino fraternity, has been an active hula dancer for over 12 years, and a salsa dancer for over 15 years. She loves diversity and learning about other cultures. She also loves to travel and volunteer, and is the mother to her fur baby, Misty.

KATRINA

Katrina brings many years of event planning experience to the team. Beginning with music, fashion, and art events in San Diego, she moved to Los Angeles County in 2012, and began to coordinate more weddings and corporate events. She loves working with diverse types of people, and enjoys seeing all the details come to life.

During the day, Katrina runs her own business, Mischief Managed, as an Artist Consultant. She meets with freelance artists around Los Angeles to create personalized game plans, empowering artists to sustain a thriving arts practice. With her MA in Arts Management, she brings together the language of arts and business. Katrina teaches, as well as hosts workshops, around LA to young artist about Arts Business and Entrepreneurship. She also holds her BA in Film Photography and loves spending hours in the darkroom.
