General Terms *

I agree to work with So Smitten Special Events and its associates as an independent contractor on a continuous and as-needed basis. I will agree to a contracted rate of service before the acceptance of the job. Questions about fees, payment arrangements, and all expectations regarding the event must occur in email or be put in writing. I agree to the legal terms of being an independent contractor, therefore will receive a 1099 for taxes and will be responsible for my own taxes.

Attire *

Each associate is to wear a presentable and professional dress as stated in this contract. So Smitten Special Events’s attire is all black business casual (no jeans). Wear comfortable footwear. Sneakers are only allowed if completely black. No open-toed shoes. Make sure they are comfortable; you will be on your feet all day.

Time *

So Smitten Special Events will give you an arrival time. You must be on time or early. Reserve additional hours from the start of the event, in case the client needs So Smitten Special Events to stay longer.

Conduct *

Be professional, respectful, polite, courteous, and deferential to all participants at all times. Follow all instructions. You may not drink alcohol or smoke during an event. Violation of any of these terms is grounds for immediate termination and revocation of this contract.

Exclusivity *

You, the contractor, understand that you represent So Smitten Special Events and not any other business while completing assignments for So Smitten Special Events. Your sole responsibility with regards to So Smitten Special Events clients is to promote So Smitten Special Events. While directly working for So Smitten Special Events, you will not advertise your own business, will not solicit work for yourself, and will only distribute So Smitten Special Events business cards, name, and marketing materials. You are not bound by an exclusivity agreement when not working directly for So Smitten Special Events. You may pursue other planning and coordination work for yourself or other studios, as long as it shall not directly compete with So Smitten Special Events, infringe upon So Smitten Special Events's client base, or solicit So Smitten Special Events clients, either directly or indirectly.

Confidentiality *

You understand that all materials, price lists, contracts, financial documents, agreements, and other information or documents that are given to you in the scope of your assignments, are the exclusive property of So Smitten Special Events, and are privileged, confidential information. You agree not to reveal this information to anyone, nor to use this information for your personal use or to the detriment of So Smitten Special Events in any way.

Liability *

You, the contractor, are liable for any loss or any other financial liability sufered by So Smitten Special Events due to a failure to perform, other than a documented medical emergency or "Act of Nature.” So Smitten Special Events is not liable for any loss or damage to your personal possessions or equipment under this contract.

Notice for Excusable Absence *

A minimum of 2 weeks (14 days) notice is required if you are unable to work an event. If your absence is not excusable, or you do not give notice and do not show up for an event, your contract is revoked.
